I was a bride once and I TOTALLY understand the stress of finding the perfect photographer. You dream about your wedding day and spend way too much time on Pinterest planning it, so you want it to be documented beautifully. But what if it rains? What does a retainer mean? WHEN will I get my photos? And how? How many?
These are all GREAT questions, and super important to ask your photographer as you are having those initial conversations! I’ve assembled some of the most frequently asked questions I’m asked during the booking process, and I hope these answers are helpful for you!
FAQs During Booking Process
- What happens if we have to cancel?
I try to be as accommodating as possible and work with my couples to insure they get the most value for their hard-earned money. I only take on 10-15 weddings a year, which means my wedding dates are first come, first serve. As such, I require a 30% retainer due at signing in order to secure your date. This retainer is nonrefundable, and in the event of a cancellation I will refund all monies paid minus the retainer. This retainer is lower than other photographers’ retainers for two reasons: (1) I prefer to break up payments into smaller increments because I think it’s better for my couples! And (2) I use this retainer to send out my client welcome gifts and for their engagement session. If we have to cancel and haven’t yet photographed the engagement session, I will offer to schedule a portrait session for my couples at any time within the calendar year at no extra cost.
- Do you give discounts?
SUCH a good question! I offer a 10% military/first responder discount, but otherwise I do not. My package pricing factors in my education, experience, and cost of doing business, and therefore leaves no margin for me to be able to afford any other discounts. Otherwise I won’t be able to pay myself!
- When/how will I receive my photos?
I deliver my images in digital high resolution format via online gallery no later than 4-6 weeks following the wedding date.
- How many images do you provide?
I provide approximately 100 final images per hour of coverage. For example, if you hire me for my most popular wedding package at 8-hours, you will receive ~800 images in your gallery.
- Have you shot at ______ venue before?
I always visit the venue for a walkthrough a week or two before the ceremony to meet the staff and location scout for the wedding day. Even if I haven’t shot at your venue, I always work hard to insure I photograph every wedding day to the best of my ability!
- What happens if it rains?
During my walkthrough at the venue I always ask if there is a rain plan in place. In addition, I have a bunch of clear umbrellas I bring with me on rainy days if my couples wish to take photos outside.
Have any other questions? Send me an email and let’s meet up for a coffee and chat!
