I met up with Marilou and George for their sunrise engagement session at the Jefferson Memorial shortly after the sun rose up over the gorgeous blooms. Crowds were already appearing, but I was confident we’d find some picture-perfect spots free of tourists and fellow portrait-takers! The blooms and trees screamed spring, but let me tell you the weather DID NOT! It was COLD! And not just a “oh it’s a bit chilly, but I can casually walk around the basin with my Starbucks cup and be just fine” but a bone-chilling, wind-gusting kind of cold. I have insane respect for Marilou in her short dress and thin jacket! She absolutely rocked being out next to that water, and was handling it better than I was! I was lucky if my fingers didn’t freeze as I was taking their portraits!
George was such an awesome sport and really came through for their engagement session. The things you do for love! I tried to keep spirits high despite the freezing weather, and we all laughed at just how ridiculously cold we all were. It made for so many genuine moments! Even though we were all so frozen by the end of it, you can’t ignore just how warm and fuzzy these two make you feel!
