I can wholeheartedly say Cherry Blossom season in Washinton D.C. is my favorite time of the year. The Cherry Blossom trees usually are in full bloom the last week of March into the first week of April. However, it is all based on the weather, and HERE is where you can find live updates. I am fortunate enough to shoot so many couples and families during this time, and I have three locations that are my absolute favorite. 

Stanton Park

Stanton Park is a national park in Washington, D.C. It is located at Maryland Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. There are large green areas surrounded by tree lines!

 

Tidal Basin

The Tidal Basin is a man-made reservoir located between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel in Washington, D.C. It is part of West Potomac Park near the National Mall. The Tidal Basin is the location of the National Cherry Blossom Festival every year.

East Potomac Park

East Potomac Park is a park located on a man-made island in the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., United States. The island is between the Washington Channel and the Potomac River, and on it, the park lies southeast of the Jefferson Memorial and the 14th Street Bridge.

The Van Gogh Bridge

The Van Gogh Bridge in Reston is a work of art. The bridge links the businesses and residences and is surrounded by beautiful cherry trees; the Van Gogh Bridge is the perfect spot to soak in the beauty of the cherry blossoms glistening above the water.

When planning your Cherry Blossom session

Here are a few things to note when picking out an outfit. 

• You want the trees to pop, so wear neutral colors such as white, nude, tan, or light blue. 
• Black is a little too dark to wear during a cherry blossom session as it will be the focal point of your picture, and that’s not something you want! 
• Yes, you can wear light pink! It won’t clash 

 

Cherry blossoms are considered the symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal and the fleeting nature of life. I will do as many sessions in these two weeks as possible!
