On Sunday August 11th, Andrew and I drove down to Virginia Beach so that I could photograph these two for their engagement session! We were going to make a date day out of it: head down to the city center early and grab some juices, walk around the beach for a smidge after location scouting at First Landing State Park, grab a bite and then some ice cream at Lolly’s. Well we hit traffic on 95 south and I ended up only having about 15 minutes to location scout at First Landing State Park, we ended up grabbing McDonalds’ fries and dollar menu sweet teas during the outfit change of the engagement session, and we made it to a Sonic Drive Thru for ice cream about 10 minutes before they closed for the night. Even still, we laughed through the ridiculousness of it, and these two were worth every bit of traffic that day!! Shelby is bubbly and engaging and Rad is a bit more reserved, and they both have such a comforting and relaxing demeanor. They felt like instant friends the moment we arrived and we all ended up talking during and after the session about pets, dates, and our equal wish to own boats and take them out on the river like everyone we passed by.
We started off at Shelby’s family farm in Pungo, and were met with such AMAZING light. Shelby and Rad also have the SWEETEST English Mastiff, Sierra, who joined us for a walk through the cornfields and some portraits under a shade tree. After sharing laughs and stories about our significant others, we ventured off to First Landing State Park for some sunset portraits along the beach. We were fortunate enough to find some Spanish moss in the state park, which gave me nostalgia for Charleston! I am so thrilled to share a few highlights from this relaxed engagement session, and I CANNOT wait to see them again for their wedding in October!!!
