Congratulations, you’re engaged! The love of your life has proposed, and you are about to embark on a new chapter in your life. All of the stressful emotions are running through your head; how do I plan a wedding? Where do I start? How will I ever pull this off?
Planning your wedding is not supposed to be an easy task, but you can do it! Here are my top five tips on what to do right after you get engaged.
Remember that there is no rush in getting married! Take time with your fiance to relax and soak up all of the bliss. Call your family and friends and let everyone be excited with you for a few weeks.
Your budget is going to be the key component when planning your wedding. Nailing down your budget right away before you call vendors will help you stay on track and not overspend.
This is the best advice I can give you. A wedding planner will be with you every step of the way. They are there to help you secure vendors (within your budget), they communicate with all vendors on your behalf, and they are with you the entire day of your wedding, setting up and making sure that you are happy and everything runs smooth.
Decide how large you want your wedding to be first. Deciding on the size of your wedding will help when picking who is invited. Will it just be immediate family, or will your mom’s 1st and 2nd cousins get an invite as well? This can be a hard decision, and I always recommend talking with your family about guest lists.
There are so many types of venues in the United States. Old historic homes, farms, barns, country clubs, and banquet halls (just to name a few!). Decide what vibe you are going for, check out a few, and then make your decision. When deciding on what type of venue to get married in don’t forget to ask questions like do you offer catering, tables, and chairs, etc.
